Wow bookworms, it’s been a hot minute since I did this kind of post! I ended up skipping the one in December because there was just so much going on then. If you’ve been following me since the beginning, you may know that I’ve been trying to do one of these musing type posts a month, on the last Sunday of the month, to just kind of talk about myself and what’s going on in my life in general and in blogging realms.
This month started out in a very uncertain place. My then-fiancé and I rang in the new year from an AirBnB while we continued to apartment hunt. The combination of my being new to my full time job, and our entire tenant history being from Denmark, was really hurting our search. We even had one building tell us they would consider us as having no tenant and no work history in our circumstances! Luckily, though, we found a building willing to work with us (though we had to pay a full month’s rent as deposit). Our new place is quite big for Seattle, and ticked all our boxes in terms of space (he’s tall and I like a place to sit quietly and read), in unit laundry, and appliances. We’ve still had some issues because our apartment is stand alone instead of attached to the building, making our address a point of contention with utilities. But it’s ours for the next 12 months!
On January 2nd, I had a courthouse wedding. I’m still getting used to saying “my husband” and hearing “my wife,” and in general things are still crazy with that. But I’m happy, and this should make things easier for him in terms of staying with me in the country. Also, it was good timing, since this way we can use our wedding registry to furnish our new place!
I really do plan to get back into regular blogging. I may be sitting on the floor with a blanket as my cushion, but I have a coffee maker and a regular work schedule so there’s no excuses lol. I also think I might get back into writing for fun in general, but I’m not sure about that yet. I’ve also been toying with the idea of changing when I do my schedules and wrap ups of the week. My week is not Monday-Friday but Friday-Tuesday, so functionally Friday is my Monday and Wednesday my Saturday. I’ve already started losing track of the days, haha.
I’m also super behind on my reading challenge already! Due to poor Internet and just the general hassle of moving around a lot, I’ve only managed to read 3 books so far (one of them in about an hour last night at my husband’s request) so my Goodreads challenge is looking kind of weak. I’m hoping, though, that I’m able to change that soon!
Well bookworms, my coffee is getting cold and I need to get ready for work in a little bit so I think this is the end of my rambling Coffee with Catherine. Keep an eye out for posts this week, as I have plans to throw myself headfirst into being more active and engaged! Until next month, keep blogging and keep reading!
