What is Polarthon?
Polarthon can be found here on Twitter! The idea of the readathon is to build your way through a series of themes until you reach a polar fantasy novel. Not all the books you read need to be considered polar fantasy, but the final book does. Polarthon runs from the 3rd of February through the 9th, so it’s not a very long readathon.
What I’ll be reading
Due to the length of the readathon, I’ll be using Polarthon to double dip a bit with my Fortune Teller Readathon, as well as finish some books I’ve really been meaning to read.
- Retelling: my first prompt will be a retelling, for which I am reading Ayesha At Last by Uzma Jalaluddin. This is a double dip with the Fortune Teller Readathon as well!
- Intimidating: the second prompt I chose was this one, and for it I’ve chosen to read Virgin Soil by Ivan Turgenev. What can I say, Russian lit just intimidates me…
- A Journey: I chose Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini for this one, as the novel concerns the journey a man takes towards piracy.
- Northern Folklore: I chose Winter’s Fury by A.E. Rayne which is inspired by Scandinavian history and folklore but is solidly a high fantasy novel.
- Polar Fantasy: I’ll admit, I haven’t found a polar fantasy novel that both interests me and that I can obtain between now and the 9th of February, so I am 100% open to suggestions!
Wish me luck on my journey to polar fantasy bookworms! Are any of you also participating, or have a favorite polar fantasy novel to rec?
