It feels like March and April combined were a whole year to be honest book bees. This whole pandemic thing has been utterly nuts! But at least I’ve decided to actually have some goals going into this month as opposed to April…
Integrate content to Bookstagram
I would like to get more content up on Bookstagram. For a brief time when I first started to do all of this book blogging stuff, I was posting once or twice a day on Bookstagram. I had more fun taking pictures, writing captions, and getting engaged with weekly hashtags and challenges. I think I’d like to come up with some weekly Bookstagram goals that I can easily meet each week to help motivate me to make more content there and tie it to my book blog.
Get Patreon supporters?
Thus far I’ve had my Patreon for a month and no supporters….yet. I’ve revamped my tiers a couple of times, made sure to update the posts that should be up there, and done a bit of promotion. But clearly not enough promotion and not enough creative content is being offered! So I’m hoping to improve my Patreon until I get at least one patron!
Whittle down TBR to 300 books
As I’m looking at my TBR right now, this seems like a tall order! Of course, the hope is that the majority of the books I read during May will take a title off my TBR. As it stands right now, it’s at 345 books. I doubt I’ll be able to read 45 of those during the month of May, so more likely I’ll be doing some serious pruning to decide how many of those I actually want to read.
Keep streak going all month for blog posts!
I had a pretty substantial streak going after Blogtober last year, but I lost it around mid-late November due to Life. I also had a decent streak going for a little while from March but I just had one bad day with no scheduled posts ready and lost that. I think I want to try and break my streak record going forward and posting all days in May just might help me with that!
Hit 200 followers on the blog
I have to admit book bees, this one is quite easy. I’m about one or two followers away from this goal, but it still means a lot to me! I haven’t had a whole lot of growth in followers here on the blog and it remains my lowest number. Though I try not to pay too much attention to the numbers, it’s sometimes unavoidable when trying to hop onto fun sounding book tours.
Start tying in more writing content (Spradling’s Scrawlings)
Occasionally in my discussion posts, I’ve talked about writing or my experience writing. I’ve been writing for a long time, 15 years actually. I’ve had phases of extreme productivity where it was easy for me to finish a novel in a month (NaNoWriMo veteran here) and there have also been stages of my life where most of my writing skill was given over to things like my master’s thesis or this blog. I’ve been doing some writing on the side but not nearly as much as I should be. Originally with my Patreon, I envisioned my writing blog being a part of it but that hasn’t come to fruition as of yet. I’m hoping to change that in May!
There you have it book bees, my goals for the month of May. Hope you had a great April and are embarking on an equally great May! Stay healthy and stay safe!
