Coffee With Catherine

Yup, it’s almost the end of September folks! I think this month is the first one this year that’s actually gone by rather quickly. A lot of stuff is happening, though…

On a personal level, I’ve got big changes coming up. This month I really hit the lowest for not liking my current job and began an extensive job search to try and leave it ASAP. What happened instead was two things: I started a new part time job as a greeter at a doggy daycare (yep, I’m now going to start getting paid to play with dogs) and my husband and I decided to move. The city we live in currently was our best choice when we needed it, but we no longer have ties here really, My job was always supposed to be temporary and if I can’t find a new one in this city, we may as well leave. It’s cheaper to live elsewhere and we’d like to be able to save more money so it makes sense to move somewhere more affordable.

Our plan is to move in January when our lease on our apartment is up. So for the time being, I’ll be keeping my full time job and the new part time one and working as much as possible. We’re going to save up and move somewhere cheaper, and hopefully in the next few months I’ll be able to find a job there as well. We’re also optimistic that my husband will get his work permit by January and be able to get a job himself so we no longer have to struggle to live off one income. It’s supposed to be impossible to do that in this city and trust me, we’ve been feeling that for a while.

It’s also possible that with the increase in my working (I’m looking at working 14 to 15 hour days at least three times a week plus having no days fully off) this blog will take a backseat and won’t be as active as it’s been in the past. I had grand hopes for doing Blogtober entirely again this year as well as posting to my writing blog during Blogtober, but I have to prioritize saving up for this move and getting enough sleep to keep working a lot.

I’m hoping October will bring a lot of good things though. October is my favorite month of the year, and even in the subdued existence that is 2020 I have to hold onto the hope that October will be better than the rest of the year has been. We’ll check back in towards the end of the month to see how that hope works out for me…
