Blogtober Day 1: Spooky October Things I Love

Crisp Air

You can absolutely smell spooky season in the air, usually starting in the end of September. There’s just a whiff of smoke, the crispness of the cold, and an absence of that floral grassy smell that comes with spring and summer.

Halloween Decorations

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I got when passing a home on my route back from work that already has Halloween decorations up! It makes me smile every time I pass. I love seeing how many homes get festive for the spooky season, and what kind of spooky they go for. Cute ghosts, haunted graveyards, and carved pumpkins are some of my favorite sights during this month.

Making Everything My Favorite Colors

Among my favorite colors are black, purple, and red. Green and orange are also pretty great, and those are pretty much the colors everything is during October! Spooky “blood” themed things are red, everything pumpkin is orange, purple and green and black are all used for various witchy and ghoulish things. My favorite decorations and clothing items end up sold during this month usually.

Ghost and Horror Stories are Everywhere

Everywhere you go, books and movies about ghosts and other horror subgenres are available. If you turn on the TV you can find Hocus Pocus marathons and other creepy line ups, and Netflix throws out a ton of horror movies and shows. I love being able to easily revisit old favorites at the same time as seeing new books and movies coming out!
